lotus King size # 101-70 Intermediate to Advanced $12.00 |
|
The lotus grows in still, shallow bodies of fresh water where its sturdy root anchors in the mud, while its broad leaves float on the watery surface and its pure white blossoms point towards the sky. Just as the lotus, with root in the mud, rises steadily upward to put forth a pure white bloom in the sun, any person can rise above their supposed station in life (no matter how low) to attain a higher goal. For this reason, the lotus is associated with success and the attainment of goals. A lotus quilt is a wish for success, harmony, love, and prosperity. |

cherry blossom Lap and Queen # 101-110 $12.00 |

In early spring when the cherry trees bloom, groups gather for organized social outings called "cherry-viewing" parties. Because of the fragile nature of the blossom and the brief blooming time, cherry blossoms came to symbolize the transience of life and thus a popular subject for poetry. The most beloved of flowers to the Japanese people, our simple Cherry Blossom quilt is an easy appliqué (by hand or machine). Included are instructions for a queen-sized quilt. |

yin-yang Twin and Queen # 102-50 $12.00 |
|
Positive and negative forces act together in order to create energy. Yin and Yang represent these two forces. These forces are interdependent of one another and in constant movement, each attempting to gain dominance. When one achieves dominance, an imbalance causes the dominant influence to subside and the other influence to rise. You could think of it as a wave that ebbs and flows; or the action of breathing in and out. Yin and Yang represent the natural flow of energy – an assertive moving outward (yang) and the receptive moving inwards (yin). Yin and Yang are represented in the dualities or opposites that we see in our world: birth/death, high/low, etc. united together yin and yang are harmony – the TAO of Chinese philosophy. |
